Hi all,

Well I'm picking up the Monster Truck (aka the new Dodge Ram 3500 Megacab 4x4) in Sydney this week and driving it back to Perth. No van in tow, just a swag.

I'm thinking of calling past Melbourne to visit someone, and wondered which way you'd suggest if I wanted to take a scenic route rather than straight down the Hume, adding perhaps half a day or so to the trip.

I'll be solo, and have no recovery gear, so don't want to be too extreme, but I'm not afraid of getting it dirty either.

I figure on going through the mountains because that's what we have least of in WA. Perhaps up through Jindabyne and Dead Horse Gap, but where from there? Or where else?

Any suggestions welcome.

Matt

If you want to go through Jindabyne I would then go Via Barry way to rejoin the Princes Hwy At Bairnsdale
This way
Our avitar is looking out over the Snowy river from along this road.
Some very good camp spots and stunning views along this road.

Hi Matt...

Jan and I went along that road many, many years ago... around the late 70's or early 80's in our Holden Gemini of all things!!! Went from Buchan to Jindabyne... the opposite way to what you would do. The mountain views are absolutely amazing.

Also took a detour down the road/track to McKillops Bridge over the Snowy River and back... You would not believe the sculpture of the Granite under that bridge from the Snowy River. Absolutely incredible!!! Suggest you give it a go if you take this path.

Also went to the Buchan Caves.

Highly recommended.

Regards,

Craig and Jan
