Spare wiring

Our BT 2013 has a tailed off coil of wire adjacent to the Charger unit that looks like Telephone wire (R56?)...flattish not round & white/cream coloured.
It disappears into the off-side wall and may head up and back toward the 12v switchboard/entertainment unit area.
Can anyone give us an idea of what it is for, and where it might go ?

The van has an Omni TV aerial that also has an un-used phone connection adjacent to the TV co-ax entry up on the mast. We were wondering if the cable is for a phone but has never been hooked up.
Any info would be appreciated.

It sounds like the RJ12 cable that, usually, connects the charger to its remote readout/control panel.

Thanks for that...it is that type of cable but is tailed off.
There is a battery indicator fitted (one battery) but it is working so presumably this cable is something different. We purchased the van a month ago and the person who had it from new did not have any info on what the cable is. It may have been intended for a second battery to the indicator when/if needed. Not knowing the requirements for that type of meter I dont know if a second wire is required to connect a second battery to the meter.
I was hoping it may have been set up for telephone on the Omni antenna but it looks like it was fitted and a second wire wasn't provided.
Thanks again.

Hi
We have a similar cable in our van. It leads to the remote starter switch up on the top cupboard for the inverter.
Cheers

Hi DunnaRunna,

Me thinks Spydor is correct.

I will put it another way - Where is your switch to turn on the Inverter? & what wire goes into that switch?
Regards Peter.

Dunna,
Sounds very much like a cable to a remote panel for a battery charger, an inverter or a solar regulator. Failing that it could have been used, given it sounds like it is now disconnected as a battery sense wire or a battery temperature sensor wire.
Cheers, Bill

Thanks all....firstly the only switch to activate the inverter is the one on the inverter itself. To switch it on necessitates lifting the bed or accessing through storage door. Not convenient but true nonetheless. This will be addressed in due course.

It is more likely that the wire was once hooked up to a second battery that has been removed. I will investigate this possibility further.
Thanks to all for your input.
