G/day, am looking at a Shocker hitch or Air safe hitch to put behind my
Dodge Ram 3500 towing a 21 ft B/T, any comments would be appreciated.

We use an Air safe hitch behind our Isuzu truck and find it very effective. If you look in the mirrors around cattle grids and other high impact areas you can see the truck and van moving in different directions. They are not cheap but appear to be well made and effective. They will certainly reduce the shock loading to the van chassis if the rear end of the tug is on the stiff side.

Thanks Mike for the feed back, looks like the Air safe is the way to go, seems to have less wear points than the shocker hitch. Alan

Yes we too looked at the shocker hitch but decided the more limited travel and the lack of dampers would make it unsuitable for badly corrugated roads. The Air Safe Hitch is also fully adjustable to the ball weight by varying the air pressure and the addition of dampers is absolutely essential. Anything without dampers leaves a massive amount of energy thrashing around without control. I think you made the right decision.

We have an AirSafe Hitch on the F250 with dual rear wheels and F350 springs.
Made a huge difference to the ride in both the F truck and the BT
After the first trip, we also fitted the shockers. Would recommend these from the start.
Cheers

Thanks once again Mike & Andrew for your feedback. I ordered through Daryl at BTA the Air Safe class 6 hitch with dampers, they now have a version with the shank 50 mm higher to lower the height of the ball which will suit the Ram, I will let you know how it handles come March.
