hi all
would like peoples comments on the new range(since 2013) of smart jump starters (ie lithium)
they are compact & light
a 600 amp can start a 4.5 diesel & a 900 amp a 6.7 diesel whilst this is peak power its because of the lithium technology that this power can be delivered much quicker that lead acid batteries is the claim although u will only get a couple of attempts to start before a recharge is necessary - but like all lithium batteries many charges are possible
cheers

Hey Stephen and Deb, long time no hear.
We have a Micro-Start PPS battery , i think to be realistic it wouldn't jump start a large diesel ie (7.3l) but will start six cylinder and four cylinder vehicles three or four times before recharging.
Here are the specs.
Starting current 200A
Peak current 400A
Weight 14 oz
Size 150 x 75 x 28
Output 5v-2A, 12v-8A, 19v- 3.5A
We got the unit a few years ago so no doubt the newer ones would be more efficient and possibly quicker to charge. i think it's still a good idea to have on hand.

hi dave
good to hear your still tracking
have u converted that p o to a coffee shop yet
from memory u had a few clues re electronics so the lithium jump start that seems to have the running at the moment is a SJS smart jump start
the 600 amp (peak) is claimed by our local battery world to start his 4.2 nissan diesel & our century battery reseller thinks its ok & would start our 4.5 LC
auto barn also sell the sjs charger range but only have personal experience with the small version (300 amp)
ive sent sjs an enquiry on wed but they have yet to respond
id be interested in your opinion
cheers

Hey Stephen,
I suppose the SSC06 Smart Start Charger 600A will start your Cruiser , but that will also depend on the ambient temperature and the state of your batteries when you go to jump them.
SJS state that the battery will Jump Start Vehicles up to 4.5 Litre, (upto) but i would like to test this battery out before i purchased one.
IIRC your vehicle is a V8 turbo diesel , i would ask the suppliers if they will demonstrate the procedure in front of you before you part with the funds.

Cheers Dave

thanks dave
i hear what u say
ive tracked down another starter AMG 15 which is 700 amps distributed by baintech--16 % more power
claim diesel/ petrol up to 12 cylinders or 7000 cc
this seems too be a rebadged Arnosmater Jump Power AMG 15 or is it the other way round
both currently out of stock
Our local ARB who are NOT baintech resellers tells me that ARB tested the baintech AMG6 & it started a 200 l c diesel 6 times before needing recharge
there is also another distributed by repco called powerall 600 amp but they exclude vehicles with twin batteries

the bay can be a bit of a pig in a poke with many forgeries
even those who think they are legitimate warn of knock offs

Yes i agree Stephen you are better to wait for ARB to stock up on the 700 amp unit!

Answer to your earlier question , no haven't converted the PO to a coffee shop , still on the market.
