Have been with CIL since we bought our van in 2012, am thinking of changing to QBE.
Has anyone had any dealings with QBE? there is quite a difference in price, but just a bit wary of changing.

I did the same thing and during my enquiries I spoke to QBE. Their values applied to a BT are rock bottom.

I didn't go with them.

Try Ken Tame insurance. We have the Chev & Bushtracker insured with him. We have had a couple of claims and have not had any hassles. You will have to join the CMCA, as he only insures club members.

I checked Ken Tame for a quote on the Landcruiser and van and he was dearer on both compared to what I have with Wesfarmers Federation.
They are great to deal with and have never had a problem on claims . They are also cheaper than several insurance companies I have tried for our houses and other vehicles.
Worth checking out..

Have you got a quote from GIO. Found them much less expensive. Had a $15k claim a couple years ago. Took it to BT. Only time I talked to GIO was to ring and tell them about the incident, they took the excess over the phone by CC. Work done, no issues at all. Also allowed me to have my agreed value.

We were with CIL since 2002, experiencing annual increases in premium. We have switched to NRMA for half the premium!....Shop around!

We have also been with CIL since we bought 11 years ago. I had similar concerns about the ever increasing premiums despite a perfect no claims record.

We have just negotiated some changes with CIL now we are based back in Perth and not on the road all the time.

They were not prepared to changed the basic premium. but there was a lot of leeway to make other adjustments when we are not using the van. Viz:

Contents dropped from $30,000 to $1000 when not in use

Claim excess changed from $200 to $600 (This can be altered at any time. Can also be increased to $1000 but is then fixed for a period of one year)

Could also drop off the cover for the annex when not travelling - but this was only a few dollars

End result - monthly premium dropped from $171.28 to just $118.0 - saving is considerable.at 0ver $600 per year

When you plan your next trip - just phone and request them to up the numbers to whatever you need just for the period you are away.
