We are a couple in our 50's from Tassie and lucky enough to be able to purchase a
Bushtracker. We designed ours with a club lounge and central bathroom, in a combination of whites, greys and "elegant oak" veneer in places. But the reason I am writing this is because when we designed and purchased our van we requested a compost toilet. It is not something that
Bushtracker recommended and were actually quite upset about it, but that was fine with us. We got them to make allowances for where we wanted to set it up.
A year later - and after several trips ...weekends away... we have not emptied our compost toilet! And the most amazing thing is that there is absolutely no smell! It is something I wanted to share after we trialed it and being female and very particular... this option wins hands down. No emptying of cassettes every 2-3 days and when it does need to be emptied - the smell is not offensive. Mind you we haven emptied it yet so I will need to keep you up to date on that one.
It is probably not suitable for families with children unless your children are a bit switched on with how to use it, but for my husband and I it is perfect.
I know other caravans offer this option - and maybe
Bushtracker will in the future too, but regardless if you want to know more then let me know. A couple of pics attached - we installed the toilet when we got home so can forward a picture on if anyone is interested :) We have a 20ft
Bushtracker.
