In 1845, Charles Sturt named the Cooper's Creek after his respect for Mr Cooper a Judge from South Australia.

Either side of the bridge offers great camping opportunities on the banks of the mighty Cooper Creek.
Water will be over this bridge on the main channel at 5.43 m but the nearby Long Crossing causeway goes under at 4.37 m.
