Peace Gorge - WA

Peace Gorge is a stunning spot located just 3kms, north of the gold mining town of Meekatharra and offers great picnic facilities and allows free camping and campfires and pets allowed. Easy access for large rigs, 2WDS and caravans with plenty of room to manoeuvre.

Stop at the main carpark for a day visit or drive further on following the creek line (usually dry in winter) to the camp area with fire pits, bins, and picnic tables.

The gorge has been the preferred picnic spot for locals since 1919 when a gala picnic and sports day was organised for the soldiers who returned to Meekatharra following World War I. Since then it has become a tradition locals have honoured over the past century. Originally named The Granites it became known as Peace Gorge following the gala day.
