Dampier Landing Campsite - WA

This site is one of many designated camping areas in Dirk Hartog Island National Park. Online bookings required.
The site is accessible via a sandy track that is documented on the booking form as not suitable for trailers due to a short, steep hill climb required on exit but this comment is subjective.

The campsite has no facilities and is located in a protected sandy bowl behind the dunes. There is no view of the water, and no easy access to the water via walking. To access the water requires driving over 2 more dunes from the campsite - there is a warning sign as this is steep and requires 4WD. On the other side of the first dune is a sandy track that heads north. This track lies behind another dune and you will a fork in the track. The main track heads north which leads to the historically significant site of the "Camp of the Perservant". Plaques tell the story. The track continues on past there to Cape Levallian. Allow 15 minutes drive. The track is quite soft.
