4WD Track to Mary Kathleen Open Cut Mine - QLD

This track leads all the way past the abandoned mining operation site and beyond to the open cut mine that is now flooded. Take heed of all warnings. No camping and and no swimming. Track is suitable for 4WDs towing offroad camper trailers but not suitable for caravans due to dry river bed crossings which can be boggy and many large pot holes in the track. There is a point about 1km from the end where you can stop and park and walk the final section.
Visiting the open cut mine is well worthwhile. The waters are amazingly blue and you can walk along the ridges and explore.
