Information
Drysdale is a picturesque rural township situated on the Bellarine Peninsula, approximately 98 km southwest of Melbourne and 22 km east of Geelong, standing at an elevation of 65 meters above sea level. The town is named after Anne Drysdale, a Scottish pioneer who, along with her partner Caroline Newcomb, established the ‘Coriyule’ property near the area in 1843.
The town’s urban area merges seamlessly with the neighboring community of Clifton Springs, offering residents and visitors easy access to both Geelong and the principal resort towns of the Bellarine Peninsula.
Drysdale boasts a rich history, with several heritage-listed sites, including the Drysdale Hotel, Drysdale Railway Station, The Stock Pound, Drysdale State School, and the Drysdale War Memorial. The town also serves as the western terminus of the tourist-oriented Bellarine Railway, which operates from the historic Drysdale Railway Station. ?
For those seeking leisure and recreation, Drysdale offers a variety of attractions. Visitors can enjoy local distilleries such as The Whiskery and Bellarine Distillery, explore Tuckerberry Hill Blueberry Farm, or visit the nearby 13th Beach. The town also provides easy access to the Bellarine Rail Trail, a popular route for cycling and walking enthusiasts.
