Colin Thiele was a well loved prolific and multi-award winning Australian writer and educator. He was born in 1920 in South Australia and lived for 85 years. He wrote more than 90 books.Colin Thiele‘s work demonstrates a considerable sensitivity to humans, animals and the environment. He seemed to understand and respect young humans, especially.He won many awards for his books. He was made a Companion of the Order of Australia, was awarded the Dromkeen Medal to acknowledge his importance as an Australian writer. People liked his writing so much that they named a library at the University of South Australia and a highway after him.
