Information
An open grassed area set on the site of the old town (Marrinup). Managed within the Marrinup State Forest. Fees payable. Located about 5km north-west of Dwellingup. This site is accessible by 2WD vehicles and is also the site of the popular Marrinup MTB cycle trail so many day-use visitors frequent the area also. There is also a 4.5km walking trail which connects to the former Marrinup prisoner of war camp (POW Camp No.16).
Bookings cannot be made although a fee of $8 adult/night is payable. Onsite ranger during busy periods.
Visit the Dwellingup Office of the Dept of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions at Banksiadale Road, Dwellingup to pay in person at other times.
Generators must be turned off at 9pm and not permitted to restart until 8am.
Campers´ own liquid or gas fuel barbeques, stoves and heaters can be used at any time, unless a total fire ban has been declared.
Campfires are usually permitted, in the provided fire rings only, between April 15 and November 30 but fire restrictions may be imposed at any time and without notice. Bring your own firewood.
Marrinup town was established in the 1880’s to harvest Jarrah. When timber resources declined, operations moved to Dwellingup, with the remainder of the town destroyed by the 1961 bush fire.Large Blackbutt trees can be seen growing in the fertile soil of the creek lines. Wooden sleepers of the old tramway tracks, built for hauling Jarrah, can still be seen in places and a creaky bridge crosses the creek.
