Information
Kalbarri National Park consists of 2 distinct areas - one is coastal and the other surrounds the lower reaches of the Murchison River where the river has cut a magnificent 80km gorge through the red and white banded sandstone. Perched right on the cliff top the two platforms of the Kalbarri Skywalk jut out over the gorge. The views from the Skywalk are incredible.
The Loop, Z Bend, Hawks Head Lookout and Ross Graham Lookout are magnificent gorges with truly stunning rock formations and the wildflowers are exceptional in spring and early summer.
On the coastal section of Kalbarri National Park, wind and wave erosion have created impressive cliffs that plunge 100m to the ocean and the views up there are amazing.
At the mouth of the Murchison River is the town of Kalbarri, a thriving fishing and tourism hub. It’s a good base for you to explore the park from with a number of caravan parks, and accommodation options. Kalbarri is a thriving, yet small tourist town that is a favourite family destination due to its beauty, and so much to see and do so give yourself time to experience it all!
The Park is located 590 km north of Perth, some 160 km past Geraldton and covers about 186,096 hectares.
