Glastonbury Creek Camping Area (Brooyar State Forest) - QLD

Glastonbury Creek camping area is an open grassy area in the Brooyar State Forest at the base of a hill. Dogs permitted. Accessible by conventional vehicles via unsealed forestry track for 6km from highway. The final 2km deteriorates and there are some ruts. Not suitable for long vans.Fees apply and sites must be booked online through Qld Parks although sites are not numbered. Qld Parks charge $7.50/night. Maximum capacity for the camping area is 120 people. Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car; caravans; camper trailers; small and large motorhomes and large groups.Campsite surface: Grass. Facilities: Fire rings, composting toilets and non-potable water.Main activities include exploring the surrounding forest on foot and by vehicle, abseiling nearby, relaxing, watching birds and wildlife. Glastonbury Creek flows beside the small camping area which offers a great setting for a quiet getaway camping experience.To access from the north, head 10km north of Gympie along the Bruce Highway then turn left onto the Wide Bay Highway and continue 7.8km. Turn left onto Petersen Road and follow the signs to the camping area located on the left 2km past the forest entrance.Caravan access along Petersen Road can vary according to road conditions. Please check local conditions before setting out.Signed access also via Diggings Rd off Gympie Woolgoolga Rd 10km.Open fires: Allowed—except when fire bans or prohibitions apply—in fire rings only, but fuel stoves are recommended. Generators not permitted.Mobile phone coverage: Generally available depending on the mobile provider. Book on-line.Dogs permitted on leash. Non-flush toilets.
