Information
Broadwater camping area, in Abergowrie State Forest, provides a large, open, grassy setting surrounded by tall, open eucalypt forests. Popular with families due to easy access to safe waters for swimming, tubing, canoeing and a 1km bush cycle circuit for push bikes plus a couple of short easy rainforest walks.
Large grassy lawn with picnic facilities in a separate day use area adjacent from campground.
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.
Facilities include flush toilets and cold showers, plenty of taps for water (not potable) and fire rings.
Campers must bring their own firewood and must not collect it from Abergowrie State Forest. Generators are permitted between 9am and 12pm (midday).
Domestic animals are not allowed in Abergowrie State Forest.
How to get there:
From south of Ingham turn left to Trebonne/Abergowrie. Pass through Trebonne and look for the turnoff on the right. From north Look for the turnoff before the Herbert River on the right. 46km from Ingham.
Accessible by:
All vehicles in dry weather however a number of steep dips over causeways that may get very deep in flood times.
Road conditions:
Bitumen with the last 16 k of gravel forestry road. Well graded and maintained.
Recommended for families with all age kids, grey nomads and anyone else who wants a quality weekend camping. No mobile phone access or internet.
