Description

The Red-flowered Kurrajong, Brachychiton paradoxus, isn't as spectacular as it close relatives like the Queensland Bottle Tree or the Illawarra Flame Tree.

It's usually only a small spindly bush becoming almost invisible when all the leaves drop at the start of the dry season but soon shows up again when it bursts into flower.

Flowering start in June and ends in October.

Region Specifics

Endemic to Australia, occurs in NT and the western parts of NEQ near the Northern Territory border, CYP and the north-eastern part of NEQ. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 300 m. Usually grows in open eucalypt forest but also found in beach forest, vine thickets and monsoon forest.
