Well now, how about a "spotters" war with Mother Hen eh! :-) :-)

At 1pm today a beautiful BT cruised from the South Eastern Expressway onto Portrush Road & headed north (Adelaide SA).

The 'hide ' of them, coming to Adelaide and not even wanting to say G'day to us!
We feel highly ignored we do! We may even resemble that as well!

Might even sulk & get ours out for Easter to go south down the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Including the week after Easter.
Any others likely to be down that way? Normanville, Second Valley etc.

Cheers - Ian & Sally

Hi, Just joined. Unfortunately not yet a BT owner - but we're working on it!

There was another beautiful BT in Ashley Gardens Big 4 Holiday Village in Melbourne on Wednesday/Thursday. I was able to admire from afar.

We have been down at the Frankston Big4 park for the past 2 weeks visiting family with our 9 year old granddaughter and 1 year old grandson celebrating their birthdays. We will be here for another week to help our son move house next weekend.

Next week we will slowly return home to Noosa so that we arrive there over Easter.

We did have another BT in the park with us last week. They were a German couple who bought their BT and Landcruiser from a couple in Adelaide and plan to use it on this and future visits to Australia to tour the country.

Thank you for saying that Peter, I didn't see anyone about the few times that I passed by. Maybe we will meet in the future.

We were absent most of the time as Brian was there for work and I made the most of my first visit to Melbourne and spent the days sight seeing in the city.

We have been in Ballarat since Friday night and head off for home in the morning.

I hope you enjoy your time in Melbourne.

Passed a great looking BT setup on Thursday on the Bruce Hwy going south near Yandina, looked an 18' towed by a Cruiser ute with a tinnie on top [orange crab pots, which I thought odd], I was in a work ute with no built in CB and my work CB was in my bag in the back, V.Vet ribbon sticker and UHF 40 on the back.
Hows that for spotting.

GREETINGS, Mobi Combo. I was on Portrush road in my F250(minus our BT) and also saw that BT. It looked like it was towed by a modified Troopy. It did not answer my UHF call. It cetainy looked like it had many design features of interest. I hope they add to this thread. Warwick.

Only ever seen two coming thru the Blue Mountains... (so much for being one of this countrys major attractions...). One was one of the few that didnt answer on the UHF, the other stayed visiting with us for 3 weeks as a result of a post in here. There are others are stopped...coz they live here. One on this group, the other not. Have spoken to them both - all really, really LOVELY people. Have spotted another little one sitting in a driveway at Blaxland East.........who are you?????
Surfy - we feel your pain. Will be going thru Rocky on Saturday next week on Maiden Voyage. Can stop in and say hi if you like....we know it eases the wait when you can share some champagne in someone elses BT (ta, Searenity!!!!)

Saw two BTs on the Fleurieu Peninsular last week, one in the Port Elliot Van park (ex members) & one Committee member in Victor Harbor Harbor traveling with 3 Kedrons hopefully teaching them that a BT is a proper caravan and not traitors to the cause. All taking advantage of the current free van transport on the ferry to KI up to June.
Neither seemed to know about the 2 month Entry & Camping pass, $52.00 or $46.00 Concession for most of southern SA, 5 nights in one place Details, parks.sa.gov.au.
Free and cheap camping is very limited on the Fleurieu Pen As locals, Camps 5 sites which we know are BT accessible are 247 Frank Potts Reserve, 255 StringyBark, (several BT size bush sites and we think the best base for touring the Fleurieu Pen for those who prefer the bush to urban beach van parks) 256 Trig (1perhaps2 sites best suited for camper trailers etc). 255 is expensive with out a Parks pass), and the best known 257 Rapid Bay.

I found another BT in town today, and told the thoroughly pleasant owners about our group. They are on a lap which commenced from Darwin early last year, so are on the homeward run. They had purchased second hand, and being good friendly travellers have already met a few of our members, and heard that they had just missed out on the Walpole get together. They will tour the SW for a bit longer before heading north. Watch for them on the road and say hello.

11.05 am Good Friday, spotted a 20-21' with reversing camera being hauled by a white 100 series (?) LandCruiser wagon rego LCV or LVC something, heading north through Rocky.

As we were going to a friends place my wife said I was going the wrong way. You see, we are still waiting on our van.

Similar rig to Ian and Sally's in above reply but without roof rack.

Yep....I was stalking a BT.........It felt good too. Couldn't get my mind off that BT and got lost going to a mates place........I'm sick, I know.

Ok...we now HAVE our BT....5,000km in 10 days ..YAY! Took it up to Biggenden for lunch the day after pickup, then to Brisbane airport (NEARLY did that tunnel someone was daring all to do...) so that we could get the 1,000km service in b4 a quick trip north.

Bumped into Him & Er (they cheated...outside BTi waiting to spot us, methinks)..Saw another one parked in Bowen Saturday afternoon (Apr 3). Chatted with Wilmo7 (Emerald), Had a funny incident with Wandering Wombats (Scone). And, erstwhile unnamed couple near Chaffey Dam (at Woolomin).

All really, really nice people.

Not bad for one trip!!!

We recently travelled to Townsville & Mackay and we saw a couple of B/T in our travels on the road. The problem is that they didn't have their UHF on and so we were not able to have a chat. We leave ours on all the time so if anyone sees us and want a chat we can. Amazingly we get a few calls from other caravaners or 4WD asking about the van etc. So guys stay on line and chat.

So who was at Peterborough SA on Sunday 16th, 11:05 am?
Possibly travelling with a Trackmaster.

They watched the Indian Pacific go by and didn’t bother returning a wave.
We were in the carriage about 600 metres from the front engine but in fairness we may not have been seen through the tinted glass.

Bob

And that has to be the most unique BT spotting so far.

And, at Coffin Bay,

We were just breaking camp at Yangie Bay and found that another BT had sneaked in at dusk last night. None other than Tracy Brunes who had arrived late because he got bogged attempting to access some of the tracks to the north on the peninsula.

Had to winch himself out. Good to see BTi out there getting more experience with their great product.

We are heading north to Beltana tomorrow to meet up with 2 other BT's. Thinking of the possibility of going to Birdsville to catch the ferry across the Cooper with Dick Smith as the helmsman.

Is this a lifetime opportunity for something unique??

Cheers.........Rob and Liz

And about a week or more in the queue, only 8 crossings per day.

Just got back to Rocky from Biloela, from not picking up our unarrived new Landcruiser...again.
Maybe tomorrow....ha, ha.

Saw a BT at 12.30 pm going south between Dululu and Biloela.

We're at home - planning.
Six months to Col's retirement and quite a few weeks of leave to use up before The Date.
Probably won't see many BT's in the ACT while the frosty weather is around.
Beautiful bright sunny days though - just keep out of that wind off the mountains :)

Seems I hit reply instead of follow-up. That non-edit function struck again...Was talking about the A.C.T. & will email CD&JW.
