Hi folks,

We are home from our trip up the gulf and our destination Nhulunbuy. What a pretty place! Caught heaps of fish. The road was pretty good.Much better than the gulf road this time. The Goyder was a bit deep.
No, we couldn't get permission to take the BT. The lady at the Land Council in Katherine tried her best. Eventually it came down to the fact that the mine doesn't want caravans on the road. We left the caravan at Katherine, took the tent and the boat and spent 2 weeks up there. For those looking for a sponsor there is a campground now at Nhlunbuy and apparently you need only put that as your address up there. You need a permit to get a permit to get a permit. You have to get a permit to buy alcohol although you can buy a drink at the club.
Still, what a pretty place! We explored all the beautiful beaches etc and did a day trip to Cape Arnhem( another permit). That was a great adventure. You can camp there.
We camped at Daliwoi Bay.Launched the boat out the front of the camp and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and fishing.
Ron is already planning his next trip.
