Information

Warren Gorge is located in the central Flinders Ranges, about 20 kilometres north-west of Quorn. It is a popular destination for bush campers and day visitors, known for its spectacular rock outcrops, shady creek lines, River Red Gums, and wildlife, especially the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby. The area offers opportunities for bushwalking, camping, rock climbing, and observing flora and fauna. Camping is most popular during school holidays, Easter, and October long weekends, with the main camping season running from March to November. Summer months (December to February) see little camping due to heat and dry conditions.Facilities include refuse collection, toilets, picnic areas, barbecues, car parking, and signage. There is a self-registration station for permits at the entrance. The Gorge is managed by The Flinders Ranges Council, which is working to improve visitor facilities, regulate camping, rehabilitate degraded areas, and protect environmental and landscape values. The area is also used for sheep grazing and has hosted large events such as 'Opera in the Outback' and 'Sounds under the Southern Cross'.The Management Plan encompasses the Reserve and an area which extends approximately 400 metres north into private property under a lease agreement between the landowner and The Flinders Ranges Council. The Gorge occupies Lots 103 & 104 FP34585 Hundred of Yarrah, and the area most commonly used for camping and visitor access extends north into Section 145 & 146 and Lot 101 FP34585.Running water, tadpoles, jagged rocks, shady trees, water cress, hill climbing, kangaroos, wild flowers and wide open spaces. At sunrise and dusk you may even see some of the yellow footed rock wallabies. Some bush long drop toilets have been provided by the Flinders Ranges Council and rubbish bins are located at strategic places. There is plenty of room here as the camp sites are spread over many areas and you can select your own site. Many of the Quorn locals along with those from Port Augusta will be found here on a Sunday afternoon picnic.
