Apsley Falls is where the undulating rural landscape of the Walcha plateau meets the rugged Apsley-Macleay gorge system. Aspley Falls is about 65m high, an equally dramatic lower falls can be viewed from the Oxley Walk, accessed by crossing the footbridge upstream.
The sheer-sided walls of the gorge here are made of slate, which under immense pressure have split forming vertical cleavage planes, the lines you see in the cliffs.
