Mitchells Track - VIC

This 4wd track starting at Mitchells Track Slate Mine, Mt Buller traverses westward to the Sideling track into Chenery St Jamieson or you can take the alternative Masters Track down into the Granny's Flat campground. The track at its highest point is 1000m near the mine and follows the ridgeline at high elevation which starts to descend down to 300m towards the Howqua end down on Mansfield-Jamieson Road or into the top of Jamieson township via The Sideling track into Chenery St.
The track is very scenic with many stops along the way to view Lake Eildon and the Howqua Inlet. Steep sections both up and down are encountered and if exiting via Masters Track into Granny's Flat campground there is rather a nasty rutted out dip on the water run off mound about halfway along, which if not careful may contact your diff! Slow and careful is the go but you will need a bit more oomph to get over the mound if you are coming up from the Granny's side.
The track is rated Medium to Difficult, in some sections, but all in all a must do if you're in the area.
