State Forests of the Barrington Tops includes Barrington Tops, Stewarts Brook and Chichester State Forests. Barrington Tops State Forest offers free camping along the banks of the Manning River.
With a large network of roads, you can explore the forest in your vehicle, on foot, bike or horse. Please be advised that conditions can change quickly, so be prepared for all seasons.
Travelling from the east, Barrington Tops State Forest is accessible from Gloucester via the Scone Rd.
Travelling from the west, go via Moonan Flat and Moonan Brook Rd, or Pheasants Creek Rd off Tomalla Rd.
Stewarts Brook State Forest, at the western end of Barrington Tops Forest Road, offers visitors some unique areas to explore.
Visit The Firs, a majestic aged pine plantation harbouring a secluded picnic area. The Firs looks even more magical with a light dusting of snow.
Or simply take int he views at Moonan Outlook, looking west and down over the beautiful Uper Hunter Valley. Gologolies Bushcamp is adjacent to Moonan Outlook and offers cleared areas for those seeking a rustic bush camping experience (no facilities at this site).
