MundAl - Lake Muir to Denmark

This Trek is part of a series of short treks that make up the complete MundAl Track. This part covers the route from Lake Muir to Denmark and is the 5th trek in the series.

This is a complicated section of the route with many tracks traversed in order to reach tricky spots but well worth the effort. The route will take you to Mt Franklin and Mt Lindesay via forestry tracks that lie inbetween the two major highways (Lake Muir Hwy & South Western Hwy), you'll cross the Franklin River, and pass many other lakes, and farmland. This is a wonderful part of the South West and despite feeling immersed in nature you can easily make your way off the route to reach a main road and visit other tourist sites. We've listed quite a few good sites to visit and places to stay that will involved slight side trips away from the prescribed route shown on the map (see Things to See, Places to Stay).

The route enables a variety of tourist activities and attractions to be visited and there is plenty of scope for bushwalking. You will pass close to, or through small towns and you will be in the vicinity of further 4WD activity if you wish to detour from the route provided for further exploring. You are encouraged to take time to experience the surrounding areas and their attractions.

You will have access to a range of accommodation encompassing everything from hotels, motels, B&Bs, regulated camping and bush camping.

Please note the additional information provided in the Preparation section below and be aware that will need to be on the look out for other recreation users including cyclists and hikers. Be prepared to encounter logging/mining/farming trucks at any time along the track.

Once in Denmark, there are many other opportunities, either head west to enjoy the special sights of William Bay National Park and beyond onto Walpole or pick up the final trek in this series of the MundAl track for an alternative route to Albany via more forestry tracks to avoid the highway.

Parts of the track will be the subject of closure due to weather, fire or other events and will need to be monitored by anyone immediately prior to and during any use of the track. You will not be able to access a mobile phone network on some sections of the track.»áñŸ®½»áñŸ®½If wet, do not attempt this track solo and always carry recovery equipment.»áñŸ®½»áñŸ®½Be prepared to encounter logging/mining/farming trucks at any time along the track. There is also possible stock movement along the roads/tracks. Be aware that DRA, Water Corp and mining gates/signs may change access at any time.

No permit is required to travel this route however when entering any national park or »àŸâëàòò¼¡óóÞêäøöîñãŸëá¡Ÿñä뼡ֵµ°¶¶¡Ÿçñä弡®ïëàâäò®µµ°¶¶®õèâªòóàóä¬åîñäòó¡½state forest»®à½ you must abide by any travel restrictions particularly if near a DRA or Prescribed Burning Operations are imminent. You need to be aware of Water Corp restrictions in any area you may be travelling through as »àŸâëàòò¼¡óóÞêäøöîñãŸëá¡Ÿñä뼡ֲ°±±·µ¡Ÿçñä弡®ïëàâäò®²°±±·µ®öàªöäë롽well»®à½ as fire restrictions. There will be seasonal closures on some parts of the track due to weather and other events and you must make prior checks for any closure information.
