The Chimneys - This open, grassy area is named for the chimneys that stand as the last remnants of a house built by soldier settlers in 1924. Following World War I, land in the Danbulla area was released for soldier settlement. An early soldier settler built a modest house here in the early 1920s, but later abandoned his block. Bill Hanley drew the block in a ballot and then built a new house here with his brother-in-law, Thomas Clark, in 1924. For many years Hanley & Clark operated a small steam-powered sawmill on the banks of Robson Creek, not far from here.These 7m high, double-brick chimneys are all that remain of the homes. If you look closely, you can see where the mantle pieces were secured above the fireplaces on the chimneys, they were back to back fireplaces & built from red clay brick.Dogs are permitted on a leash. Toilets, wood fireplace, tables and shelter.
