Information
The Fong-on Bay campground is set on the banks of Lake Tinaroo in a large, open area against a backdrop of rolling hills, forests and pine plantations.
Ideally suited to groups and large families that need room to sprawl, you'll find plenty of space to set up on this water-flanked peninsula. Most sites have water access and all have stunning views of the lake and beyond. Popular water sport activities here are swim, canoe, fish and waterski.
The camping area is 4.7km from Danbulla Road, 16.5km from the western entrance and 11.5km from the eastern entrance, on Fong-On Bay access road off Danbulla Road.
Most of Danbulla Road is unsealed but it is accessible to all vehicles.
The camping area is divided into two sections—Bulmba and Gungul—and seasonal closures apply to the Gungul section.
The campground is within the Danbulla State Forest. All camp sites at Danbulla must be booked. Campers must obtain an e-camping permit and pay their camping fees before arriving at the camping area. As mobile phone service is unreliable, it is best to book your site before starting your trip.
Dogs are not permitted in camping areas.
It is prohibited to collect firewood in Danbulla State Forest and National Park. If you would like to have a fire, bring your own firewood.
The use of generators is only permitted at Downfall Creek and Fong-On Bay camping areas, subject to conditions.
The maximum length of stay is 21 nights.
Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is by 11am.
