Information
The Bullita Stock Route is a one-way (south to north), 70km, 6 hour journey that follows a section of the stock route to Wyndham used by Bullita and Humbert River Stations. An extra 22km return side trip to the Drover's Rest will take another 2 hours and with breaks the full day will take 9 hours. The Bullita Stock Route traces a loop circuit through jagged limestone karst and sandstone escarpments that once rumbled with the hoofbeats of cattle en route to the Wyndham Meatworks in Western Australia. It is one way because the East Baines crossing and the jump up, which lies south east of Spring Creek Yard can only be negotiated in one direction. The jump up and the two East Baines crossings are rather difficult, however, apart from some rough slow-going rocky sections, there are sections on the track, which are flatter and easier. High vehicle clearance and spare tyres are essential on this track, self-sufficiency is also mandatory. Take note of the track conditions (and time of year), as the 4WD network of tracks are usually closed due to seasonal flooding from late November to May.
