Information
A very pleasant designated free camping area amongst a lush grove of sweet smelling pines with capacity for approximately 10 vehicle-based campers (suitable for caravans, camper trailers, roof top tents, vans and motorhomes) plus tent areas. All sites feature fine granite pebble on firm base, with scattered fire drums and new wooden picnic tables.
The site is situated on the lower slopes of Mt Alexander adjacent to an established MTB trail network just out of town (Harcourt).
The camping area is named due to an oak plantation planted here in 1900. There is a modern pit toilet block and day use picnic area.
Plentiful wildlife including kookaburras, echidnas, possums, sugar gliders, grey kangaroos.
Ideal camp to ride the MTB trails but not well-known. Entry signs to MTB park disuade riders from driving or parking and suggests riding from town. The campground is only signed after the trailhead - follow the track another hundred metres to the camping area.
No bookings, free, dog friendly, mobile phone service.
