Grows to 150mm - 550mm in height. Narrow coastal distribution.
This orchid has the same characteristics as the Yellow spider orchid except that the petals are red in colour.
Tuberous, perennial herb, 0.2-0.45 m high. Flowers Sept. to Oct. Grows in Sand, clayey loam and gravel.

Photo by Graeme W. The Tall Leek, Snake or Piano Orchid Prasophyllum elatum. Found in isolated pockets of the south west , it only flowers after fire. This orchid can grow to 120cms tall.
You could easily mistake this common little orchid for grass. A small terrestrial orchid with 10s of tiny flowers crowded along a flowering spike that can grow up tp to 30cm tall.
